Pop Up | Coffee Forest — Berlin

If someone asks me about the most unforgettable coffee moments for my lifetime, I’d definitely tell about the memory of Salzburg.

It is a beautiful small town located in Austria which is famous for as a birthplace of Mozart and the filming site of movie. There is a cafe named Tomaselli where young Mozart often came along with his father in the old town of the city.

It was quite a coincidence that I visited here. Since I don’t make a detailed plan when I travel, I didn’t have much information about famous places in Salzburg. Surrounded by foreign languages of total strangers; I felt that I’m in the different world during I enjoy the cup of Cafe Crème. Yes, it was a ‘surreal but nice’ moment.

Someone looked like a traveller like me, and the others might be villagers in the neighborhood for they were reading a morning newspaper like it’s a everyday routine for them. I thought of the minds of people who have made same coffees and cakes for over three hundred years, and I also thought about the life of people in Salzburg who may have lived with this old cafe for their lifetime.

It’s been for years now, and sadly I can’t recall the delicate taste of coffee that I had in Tomaselli, but the feelings and the mood that I had is still in my mind as a sweet memory. I think that’s not just because of the flavor and the aroma of the coffee beans; it was rather, a harmony of all these coffee makers and the visitors around, the lovely place with beautiful musics made this precious piece of reminiscence.

I came to think often these days about what the happiness is. I frequently say “let’s be happy” to others, but in fact I still don’t know about what the happiness is and where it comes from. Yet, this kind of sudden ‘surreal but nice’ moments like the coffee time in Cafe Tomaselli was quite a nice time, and it makes me happy every time when I remind of it.

So if there’s a key of happiness, it may be to grab this valuable moments and to treasure it in my mind. And I also hope these sweet things would come and happen to me just a little more, and the sadness had already passed by me. If I couldn’t wish that much, life would much more be a sad thing.

I started a day with a cup of coffee today with these thoughts. Now, I wonder what’s in your mind in this coffee forest?..
