Coffee Producer | Joselyn Fallas — From Costa Rica

01. "What is your background before coffee or in coffee how does it influence you?"

J: "Well, my parents have been producers for so long time but I started to fall in love with coffee when I went to the National University of Costa Rica to study International Business and Commerce. This helped me understand that I could see coffee as something international and that the farm could transcend borders and reach lots of people in the world.

Also I started to study more about technical parts of coffee processing, roasting and coffee tasting. Some of my friends complained about me boring talking too much about coffee. : )"

02. "What coffee brewing method do you love the most?"

J: "'Origami' Dripper. beyond being nice to look at it serves as well-balanced and brightness."

03. "What was the technical part you care the most when you produce coffee?"

J: "Oh, I think everything. Healthy coffee trees, ensuring a healthy environment, harvesting, and processing coffee. Especially at this moment, I am trying to learn more about scientific parts from articles and experts."

04. "What is your inspiration?"

Every moment inspires me. My days by awakening my body, living around mountains, and kind words from friends and family, other farms I admire.

And maybe difficult moments. Sometimes I feel frustrated and demotivated. It can't be perfect. My parents always told me new opportunities always will come when you face difficult times. Yes, they're right. I experienced that this year. Hence, I believe I am in the moment for reinvention now.

05. "Is there a proud thing or difficult part as a woman producer?"

I am very proud to be a woman who works in the coffee industry.

I run a farm as a woman in an a male-dominated industry. Sometimes women have never had that credit or have been humiliated. Some still believe that a woman cannot manage a coffee farm. This makes me very unpleasant (would say very upset). That's why I would like to work on it. I have a desire to show that women can manage.

The times have changed. Incredible women are also leading the coffee industry.

06. "Do you have a dream project?"

For sure. I am a big dreamer. <3

To explore the world by improving my coffee process, connecting with more people around the world, and reaching out to the market more with my coffee.

Another project is to be with CeedSeries next year as well. I’m very grateful for the opportunity, that they gave me. <3

+ Joselyn, thank you for your sweet words. We feel lucky and privileged we got to know you. Your dream is ours. Let's reach our dream project step by step together.
