Coffee in Dark Room — Milan

Coffee in Dark Room — Milan

“It’s pitch dark!” — says coffee producer Joselyn Fallas

We slowly dry our coffee in a humidity controlled Dark Room, like the one that you use to develop film. It takes over a month to dry one lot as you have to dry it slowly. We can only do limited amounts, so we prioritize the batches that we want to focus on and dry them here."

Kevin Kim still remembers the first day he encountered Joselyn’s Dark Room. That moment led him to begin a new body of work, visualizing the tasting notes of her coffee using the Lumen Print technique, right in the Dark Room. Just as Joselyn processed her coffee through light-sensitive patience, Kevin sought to capture flavor through light, color, and process.

With the first sip of Joselyn’s Dark Room, I could tell this was an entirely new palate experience. The clean, smooth texture, and floral flavors in the cup reminded me of a light pink color. It felt like a sunny day in a garden full of flowers.
Those warm, delicate images stayed with me.”

Inspired by Joselyn’s Dark Room Series, Kevin explored the taste of coffee through lumen prints, Dark Room techniques, and digital works, translating flavor into color and feeling. Using natural materials from the tasting notes, including ground coffee beans, Kevin and his creative partner Minjae Ko present: "Visualizing taste experience — Floral, Aromatic, Fruity, Acidity."

Together, this graphic design duo showcases experimental works in their signature abstract, dreamlike visual language. Welcome to an immersive moment in our Dark Room.
